Who are the PTA?

Friends of Southall School is a mixture of staff and parents/careers whose primary aim is to raise extra money for the school through events or money making opportunities. This money is then used within school to fund extra equipment, activities or trips which the school budget sadly can’t stretch to.

We endeavour to ensure all money spent will enrich the students learning experiences and will be a benefit to as many students as possible.

The school PTA needs to have what we call a committee. We are the people who ultimately make the decisions on what events/projects we will run. We then work alongside the staff and students in school to decide on what the money should be spent on.

Each year we hold what is called an AGM (annual general meeting). This is a yearly meeting where anybody can attend if you want to be on the committee. Each person is voted into position by the rest in attendance. These tend to be held in April and information will be sent home closer to the time.

Then in between these yearly meetings we then hold committee meetings where the committee members meet to go through the PTA finances, discuss future events and look at what the PTA is going to fund.

When we know events are coming up, we will then hold volunteer meetings, these are open to non-committee members. In these meetings we will plan the particular event coming up from shopping lists to allocating jobs on the night of the event. Information on these will be sent out closer to the time. Being a volunteer is ideal for those wanting to help now and again. It gives you the freedom to be able to choose what you can help at.

Halloween 2018

Our 2018 annual Halloween Bingo Disco saw us raise £431.64 with over 120 tickets being sold for the evening.


Christmas 2018

The children designed their own Christmas scenes which were then sent off to be printed onto cards, mugs, wrapping paper etc. Orders from these raised £58.30 for PTA funds.

Clothes collection 2018

£123.50 was made by staff and parents/careers bringing in your old unwanted shoes and clothing to then be recycled.
