Curriculum Computing
Curriculum Intent:
At Southall School, we want our pupils to feel confident and capable of embracing technology into their lives. We recognise the fundamental role that technology will play in our pupil’s lives and their future. Acquiring a solid foundation of computing and ICT skills is pivotal to our pupils becoming successful in a workplace and in day to day living.
As well as being consumers of technology, we want our pupils to embrace the possibilities that technology can provide in their lives, being a platform for communication. We want our pupils to use technology to overcome barriers to learning and embrace the creative possibilities it affords to us all. We want our pupils to use technology safely and acquire understanding and skills to keep themselves safe whilst interacting with technology. We aim to demonstrate and model online safety and empower our pupils to know how to use all aspects of technology, including social media, safely and respectfully.
Our curriculum is designed to embrace the creative possibilities of computing and aims to balance building a secure ICT skills base whilst acquiring knowledge to help pupils become skilful computer scientists. Across the curriculum, we aim to use computers to make learning creative and accessible, and our aim is that every pupil will leave Southall with a qualification.
